Robert Bouchet 1966
Robert Bouchet is definately one of the most important French guitar makers of the 20th century. Bouchet began building guitars in 1946, combining the traditions of the great Spanish makers with his own artistic vision. His background as a painter is reflected in the remarkable elegance, proportion, and attention to detail found in his instruments.
By 1966, Bouchet had refined a distinctive approach to construction and tonal balance. His guitars are celebrated for their clarity, projection, rich colors, and exceptional balance between bass and treble—qualities that made them highly sought after by leading concert guitarists. With only around 150 instruments believed to have been made during his lifetime, original Bouchet guitars are exceptionally rare.
This 1966 Bouchet represents not only a superb concert instrument, but also an important piece of classical guitar history, a beautifully preserved expression of one maker's singular artistic vision. What makes this example particularly remarkable is not simply that it is a 1966 Bouchet, but that a guitar from this period should survive in such an exceptionally well-preserved condition. Bouchet produced only around 150 guitars throughout his entire career, making every surviving instrument inherently scarce. Examples from his mature 1960s period, especially those retaining such a high degree of originality and preservation, are exceedingly difficult to find. For a guitar approaching sixty years of age, its state of preservation is extraordinary.
Fonzo Selection is proud to present this extraordinary instrument to a new generation of musicians and collectors.
